Exit Singing jobs and careers
About Exit Singing
Doug Voegtle & Steve Delchamps met in 2004 as members of the Musical Theater Writers’ Workshop at Theatre Building Chicago under the mentorship of John Sparks (founding director of New Musicals, Inc.). Doug & Steve's first work was OPENING DAY, an adaptation of STRANGE SNOW, the award-winning play by Stephen Metcalfe, performed in 2007 and 2009. Exit Singing is planning a 2026 production of OPERA CAT, a new family musical based on the award-winning children’s book of the same title by Tess Weaver, with illustrations by Andrea Wesson. Other works include ONE DAY IN DECEMBER (a 15-minute musical) and dozens of trunk songs, plus a variety of plays and musicals created separately prior to their creative partnership. The team has shared book writing responsibilities, but today Steve prefers lyrics while Doug sticks to music. Their sweet spot is creating adaptations of original plays, films, books, and short stories. And their open to working with musical book writers.
