About Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre (FPC)

Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre is a private voluntary organisation (PVO12/92) located in Harare, Zimbabwe, which promotes sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation through permaculture. The centre was founded in 1988 by renowned permaculture teacher and agricultural reformer John Wilson, with support from other groups of farmer activists who were concerned about the negative effects of conventional farming methods on the environment and local communities. Fambidzanai Permaculture Centre offers a variety of programmes and services, including permaculture design courses, a Diploma in Agroecology programme, training in sustainable agriculture and natural resource management, and community outreach initiatives. The centre also operates as a demonstration farm that showcases permaculture techniques and serves as a model for sustainable agriculture practices and technologies. The organisation’s mandate is to empower individuals, households, and communities to improve their livelihoods and protect the environment through sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. FPC is registered with the Zimbabwe Institute of Permaculture and closely works with local communities, government agencies, particularly the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, and local universities to promote sustainable development practices and build a more resilient and sustainable future for Zimbabwe.
