Seura aloitti toimintansa tienraivaajana turismille Suomesta Afrikkaan. Tänä päivänä Suomi Afrikka-Seura ry järjestää tapahtumaa ja toimintaa liittyen koulutusteemoihin, kulttuuriin, turismiin sekä verkostoitumiseen. Tällä hetkellä seura etsii aktiivisesti uusia jäseniä joilla on aito kiinnostus ja halu oppia sekä toimia Afrikan mantereen hyväksi.
