About FIRST Robotics Team 1778 - Chill Out

Team 1778 Chill Out: Inspiring STEM Leaders Team 1778, known as Chill Out, is a student-led robotics team from Mountlake Terrace High School, competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) in the Pacific Northwest District. Our team provides students with a dynamic, hands-on experience in STEM and business operations through the challenge of designing, building, and programming a robot for competition. Guided by dedicated mentors and coaches, we empower students to gain real-world skills in engineering, programming, project management, and teamwork. Students take on leadership roles in technical and non-technical areas alike, including marketing, fundraising, and community outreach, preparing them for future careers in STEM and beyond. Our mission is to foster curiosity, innovation, and resilience, embodying FIRST’s core values of Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition. Beyond building robots, we emphasize the importance of collaboration, integrity, and service, creating an inclusive space where students are encouraged to push their boundaries, take risks, and develop a growth mindset. Each season, our team takes on the challenge of building a competitive robot within a strict timeline, competing alongside hundreds of other teams in events across the Pacific Northwest. As a cohesive unit, we work toward technical excellence and aim to positively impact our community, inspiring younger students and engaging with local businesses and professionals. Founded in 2006, we are proud to represent our school district and community in FRC, fostering the next generation of innovators and leaders who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to the world.
