About Fish Guidance Systems Ltd

With more than three decades of experience, Fish Guidance Systems (FGS) is built on science, engineered for performance, and driven by sustainability. FGS is a leading specialist in solutions that guide and deter fish and aquatic life, while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of essential water infrastructure. Our systems are designed to influence fish behaviour, either guiding them during migration or preventing them from entering hazardous areas, while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. We use advanced technologies, including sound (acoustic), high-intensity light (visual), bubble curtains, and hybrid combinations of these methods. Our solutions are based on over 30 years of practical experience in the field, scientific research, and engineering delivery expertise. Every project is treated as unique, with systems specifically tailored to meet local hydraulic conditions, fish species and behaviour, regulatory requirements, and operational limitations. This evidence-led and engineering-first approach delivers dependable performance in complex and ever-changing settings, including hydropower facilities, dams, reservoirs, navigation channels, and large-scale water intakes. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are dedicated to providing low-impact, non-physical fish protection solutions that help safeguard ecosystems, protect biodiversity, and support long-term infrastructure resilience.
