About Fondation André et Michel Bouriez

The André and Michel Bouriez Foundation aims to broaden medical and scientific knowledge by providing twice a year to young doctors or surgeons of all specializations scholarships allowing them to acquire the knowledge and techniques capable of modifying their field of specialization. The Foundation, recognized as a public utility, aims to provide personal and financial assistance to physicians and surgeons at a minimum of the second year of residency, who are nationals of an EFTA country (European Union, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland) or the UK. They must practice in an EFTA country (or the UK) and have a research or training project abroad, in an EFTA or North American country (Canada and USA) or the UK, lasting at least one year. The grant, which can reach 75,000 CHF per Grantee per year, covers personal living costs (rent, transportation, children's education, etc.). It is disbursed as a monthly stipend throughout the duration of the program. The Grantee commits to publishing their work in a peer-reviewed journal. The Foundation actively seeks new candidates and invites them to apply on its website (www.fondation.bouriez.ch). The two annual campains close on May 31st and Oct 31st each year. Projects will be evaluated based on their scientific relevance, originality, technical and scientific innovation, and the reproducibility of the acquired knowledge. Established in 2021 by Christian, Hélène and Ghislain Bouriez, the André and Michel Bouriez Foundation continues the work begun by their parents Michelb and Yseult in 1988. when they created the André Bouriez Donation. Constant in their objective, this initiative has enabled, between 1988 and 2019, more than 45 European doctors or surgeons specialized, particularly in microsurgery of the upper limbs, to train in innovative units, thus creating a strong network of professionals, and contributing for more than 30 years in the transmission of medical knowledge.
