About Food Equity Collaborative

The Food Equity Collaborative (FEC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving community health through access to good food, nutrition education, and a stronger local food system. We work to create a more just and resilient food system by increasing access to nutritious, locally sourced meals, providing hands-on education to promote healthy eating, and strengthening partnerships that support local farmers and food producers. Our current initiatives include: 🍴 Together for Good Food – Providing nutritious, locally sourced meals to our neighbors through local food pantries while supporting small farmers. 🥦 Kitchen Compass – Empowering young adults aging out of foster care with hands-on cooking skills, nutrition education, and food access resources to build lifelong health and independence. 🥕 Kidtrition – Partnering with childcare centers to pair healthy, locally prepared meals with fun, hands-on nutrition education for kids and families. We also collaborate with the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health as a host site for MPH Capstone teams where we mentor students as they complete a community-based, experiential learning project focused on food equity and social justice. Collaboration is central to our mission. We are educators, advocates, and partners working with local farmers, health professionals, and community organizations to make good food accessible to all and to build a healthier, more equitable future for our communities.
