About Food for the Spirit

Food for the Spirit was first established in 2018 with the mission of using the arts and creative facilitation to cultivate racial healing, ecological justice, and equitable food systems. Partnering with people and communities in the City of Buffalo, Western New York, and the Finger Lakes regions, Food for the Spirit’s facilitators bring methods and strategies from national movement organizations and leading systems-thinkers to support the development of local communities. Some of our programs and initiatives include: Black Girls Retreats, Conversations on Race & Racism, Genesee Valley Black Farmers Marketing Project, and Buffalo Food Sovereignty Weeks. We also organize with, facilitate, and build support for groups of people through two place-based initiatives: the Buffalo Food Equity Network and the Finger Lakes Accountability Network.
