About Foothills Food Bank

Foothills Food Bank distributes quality, nutritious food to community members in need, delivering these services with respect and dignity. Operating in a rural food desert, we focus on bringing essential nutrition directly to families who face long distances and high costs to access groceries. Our food bank operates as a free grocery store for anyone living in East Whatcom County who needs food. Community members are invited to browse our shelves and refrigerated cases to choose shelf-stable canned goods, dry goods, packaged staples, fresh produce, fresh bread, dairy items, and frozen proteins, for as long as they need it. For community members who can’t access the food bank due to age or ability, we also offer a home delivery service. In addition to our food assistance programs, we also: - Support local farmers through our innovative preseason contract program - Advocate for support and improvement of our regional food system through committees such as the Foothills Community Food Partnership and the Whatcom County Food Bank Network - Provide educational opportunities through partnerships with SNAP-ED - Host community engagement events to better understand community priorities and needs - Build robust community partnerships to bring services and support to the area
