About Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore
Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore (FCCNS) is the nonprofit fundraising partner of the Cape Cod National Seashore—a partnership dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the park’s fragile environment, enriching the visitor experience, and safeguarding its unique cultural heritage. Through vital financial support and volunteer engagement, FCCNS strengthens one of the top 25 most visited parks in the National Park System. Spanning 43,600 acres across the towns of Chatham, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, the Cape Cod National Seashore encompasses nearly 40 miles of pristine Atlantic coastline. Its diverse landscapes—pond-speckled forests, salt marshes, dunes, and the iconic Great Outer Beach—represent the single most significant conservation holding on Cape Cod. Established by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, the creation of the Cape Cod National Seashore marked a pivotal moment in American conservation history, ensuring that the natural beauty and historic character of this extraordinary place would be preserved for generations to come.
