About Friends of the Grand Connection

The Friends of the Grand Connection (FOGC) is a stakeholder coalition focused on completing the I-405 Grand Connection Crossing from Downtown Bellevue to Eastrail in the Wilburton neighborhood. The FOGC envisions the I-405 Grand Connection Crossing to encompass and achieve the following desired outcomes: • Ped/bike transportation infrastructure investment that is safe, enjoyable, and mode separated • The outcome needs to ensure pedestrian (walking, rolling, strolling) and higher-speed bicycle experiences (and integration with other modes, like scooters) are safe, enjoyable and accessible • Be wide enough to fit various modes safely • Acts as a linear park and open space that can have community-led activations and programs • Connecting Downtown and Eastrail – re-connecting our city • Focus on safety for crossing as well as connection points (how people get to the crossing) • Does not preclude future expansion of I-405 FOGC will be the lead group in both advocating for the project and assisting with fundraising in partnership with the City of Bellevue. This is a goal-focused group that will build and maintain the project’s momentum by serving as the primary stakeholder organization working alongside the City of Bellevue and project's cheerleader promoting excitement and awareness.
