About Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library Inc.

Established in 1974 by a coalition of influential South Floridians, the Friends group has spent over five decades advocating for library funding, preventing branch closures, and enriching community engagement across Miami-Dade County. Our Mission To spark public interest in the Miami-Dade Public Library and its branches; enhance awareness of its services and needs; and foster widespread support for its development—so that libraries can effectively serve our county’s diverse communities. How We Support the Library - Awareness: Promoting the breadth and value of library resources to increase public engagement. - Advocacy: Safeguarding essential funding and keeping branches open through strategic efforts. - Fundraising: Raising critical financial support—every donation, big or small, makes an impact.
