About Gawcott Fields Community Solar Project C.I.C

Gawcott Fields Community Solar CIC, has been generating electricity and income from the sun since June 2016, the surplus income from which, is used to support local community organisations and projects. The community solar farm, located between Buckingham and Gawcott, consists of over 16,000 solar panels and is expected to generate over 4 million kWh of electrical energy each year. Buckingham and the surrounding parishes spend almost £20 million per year on energy, so our community solar project is a step towards green energy being generated and owned locally, with the value retained in the local economy. Gawcott Fields Community Solar is a professionally managed community interest company (CIC). We're governed by dedicated local volunteer directors, who ensure that every facet of our operations is purposefully geared towards the end goal of maximising community benefits. The solar farm is earning income from the sale of electricity and a Feed-in Tariff. Surplus income (after operating and finance costs) is being used to provide funding for community-led organisations and projects in the local area. In particular, our Bee Green Community Fund offers support to projects with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. Our mission is to foster positive community-led responses to environmental challenges. Find out more by visiting our website at: https://gawcottsolar.co.uk/
