About George Green's Almshouses CIO

At George Green’s Almshouses we provide accommodation for women of limited financial means in Tower Hamlets, London, since 1842. We currently have 11 flats in Poplar and Bow, each of which offers spacious, self-contained accommodation suitable for ‘general needs’ residents who are able to live independently. Established in 1842 by local shipbuilder, George Green, we operate as a charity; our board of trustees work in partnership with managing agents, Queen Victoria Seamen’s Rest (QVSR), to ensure we provide our residents with a safe, comfortable and pleasant place to call home.
