About Girls HerRising

Girls HerRising is the only grassroots initiative in Cameroon that works exclusively with internally displaced girls and young women from Cameroon’s Anglophone Crisis to educate, empower and equip them with skills to reclaim their futures and lead recovery and sustainable change in their communities. Because we believe that conflict may have taken their homes but it must not take their futures. Our work centers around three main pillars: - Education and Skills for Resilience through our flashship program, the Evelyn Chuabe Scholarship and Mentorship Initiative (ECSMI) which offers academic scholarships at both secondary and university level so girls and young women can resume school and complete their studies, and vocational training and skills to those not suited for academic programs; - Our Dignity and Wellbeing pillar caters to the overall health and wellbeing of the girls and young women we serve through mental health programs, menstrual health and period education and advocacy, and SRH; - Lastly, our Leadership and Agency pillar which gives voice to displaced girls and young women to advocate for issues affecting them and be the first to be consulted on policy, humanitarian and community solutions for their wellbeing. Our goal is ambitious: To have 1000 displaced girls and young women graduate from university by 2030 and an additional 1000 equipped with vocational skills for their livelihoods.
