About Global Macro Strategy Group at York University

The Global Macro Strategy Group (GMSG) is an institutional-grade macro research initiative at York University, founded under the mentorship of Nadeem Kassam, CFA, MBA — a seasoned capital markets professional with over a decade of experience spanning equity research, portfolio management, and investment strategy at leading financial institutions including CIBC Capital Markets, Raymond James, RBC Capital Markets, and Deutsche Bank. Nadeem currently serves as Chief Investment Strategist at Marnoa Private Wealth Counsel and as an Adjunct Professor at York University, where he teaches Advanced Portfolio Management. GMSG was established to bridge the gap between academic finance education and the analytical frameworks used by professionals at banks, asset managers, and hedge funds. Our analysts develop hands-on expertise in Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, and PitchBook, producing research that competes with industry standards. In February 2026, we published our inaugural edition — "Rotation & Resilience, While Risks Emerge" — a 27-page institutional macro report covering U.S. trade policy, central bank divergence, equity market rotation, and private market stress across six coverage groups: Economics, Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, FX, and Alternatives. Each month, our cohort of analysts synthesizes cross-asset data to deliver a unified macro outlook, with every analyst credited by name — building a published research portfolio before entering the job market. GMSG is a sister initiative of the Finance Student Association (FSA) at York University. For inquiries, reach out to us at gmsgyorku@gmail.com.
