About GoGirls ICT Initiative

GoGirls ICT Initiative is a non-profit based in Juba, South Sudan, founded by a group of dedicated young women specializing in Computer Science, Information Systems, ICT4D Innovation, hacktivism, and peacebuilding. Its focus is on mentorship in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) topics, utilizing open-source resources to foster an Open Culture in South Sudan, and providing training and workshops in this field. Established in 2015, the organization was officially registered as an independent Non-Governmental Organization in 2019. The organization is part of the Global Innovation Gathering and the Access to Skills and Knowledge network (#ASKnet), while its founders have been featured on E-Skills4Girls' "The Storytellers: Experiences Around the Globe." The following mission and vision were adopted when the organization was established in 2015. Mission ● To Engage, Educate, and Empower Vision ● To spark imaginations and curiosity of generations of problem solvers, most especially girls and women, to use technology to innovate and create lasting solutions for their local communities. Guiding Principles that help GoGirls achieve its mission and vision, abbreviated as CCCER. ● Creativity: The ability to generate new ideas, concepts, or solutions by combining existing knowledge and experiences in innovative ways. ● Collaboration: Working with others to achieve a goal or complete a task involves sharing ideas, resources, and responsibilities, fostering communication and cooperation. ● Consistency: Quality of being in agreement, harmony, or uniformity over time. It implies reliability and predictability in actions, behaviors, or outcomes. ● Ethics and Integrity: Emphasize the importance of adhering to moral values while acting in a trustworthy and honest manner. ● Responsibility: Obligation to care for, decide, and be accountable for actions and their outcomes.
