About GoKartor AB

GoKartor develops high-detail terrain maps for professional use. Our maps are built to answer questions that standard maps rarely do: How accessible is the terrain? Where are the slopes, escarpments, dense vegetation or wetlands? What does the landscape actually look like when decisions have consequences — or when you simply want to find your way through the forest? We combine advanced analysis of LiDAR data with multiple geospatial sources and our own algorithms to produce cartographic layers with national coverage across Sweden. The result is ready-to-use map layers that clearly show terrain structure, height, passability and context — not just raw data. A strong focus on usability runs through everything we build. Our maps are designed not only to be accurate, but to be easy to read, understand and work with in practice. GoKartor’s map layers can be used directly in professional GIS environments through standard integrations, but they are also available via our own web-based map service. This makes advanced terrain information accessible to planners, decision-makers and field staff who need reliable maps without working daily in GIS tools. GoKartor is used by municipalities, emergency services, forestry and land management organisations, as well as companies working with infrastructure, planning and risk or scenario analysis. Our maps are used both for planning and operational work. The cartography is shaped by experience from the sport of orienteering, where readability and terrain understanding are critical, combined with professional system development and scalable production methods. This allows us to deliver consistent quality at national scale, while still supporting project-specific and specialised map deliveries when needed. The sports community as well as outdoor recreation, remains one of the main user groups of our map services. We believe good maps improve dialogue and lead to better decisions. That is why we focus on affordable practical usability.
