About Greater Vancouver Medical Assistants and Services Team Society

This group consists of two collaborating groups under the general umbrella of the Greater Vancouver Medical Assistants Services Team Society. Our training is overseen by the Emergency Services Institute of Canada (https://esic.ca/). High School First Responders The Lower Mainland First Responder teams consist of a collaboration of numerous secondary schools in which students are trained up to the standard of Medical First Responders as set by the guidelines of the Canadian Red Cross. The individual teams provide first aid coverage for the majority of the student population in their respective secondary school institutions, along with training and development opportunities to maintain their skills and update patient care knowledge. Community First Responders Team The CFRT branch is comprised of a team of young leaders. Many of whom are experienced alumni of our high school program, from independent schools or are passionate about community events. CRFT members have the opportunity to seek advanced training at the paramedic level. Furthermore, they participate in career workshops, leadership development and outdoor recreation. Many of our CFRT members proudly volunteer their time as supervisors and mentors. Members also volunteer their services to provide first aid coverage for community events throughout the Lower Mainland. GVMAST also assists the Richmond Emergency Program with logistical, communications and emergency medical resources.
