About Greenwood Gardens

A private estate until 2003, Peter P. Blanchard III and his wife, Sofia, along with countless supporters, transformed Greenwood into a 28-acre public garden for use by the community at large. After extensive restoration, the garden opened its gates in 2013 and presently welcomes thousands of visitors from May through November for self-guided touring and specialized programs. Greenwood is sustained and enjoyed by the public through donations, membership, volunteerism, admission, tours, educational programs, and events. This support helps to ensure the beauty, safety, and preservation of this treasure for generations to come. A nonprofit organization with the mission of connecting people with nature and the arts in a historic garden oasis, Greenwood was voted “New Jersey’s Prettiest Garden” by New Jersey Family magazine in 2022.
