Hämeenlinna Art Museum operates in two buildings in the Verkatehdas area in Hämeenlinna. The museum runs a diverse changing exhibitions programme, ranging from older Finnish art to modern and contemporary art. Hämeenlinna Art Museum was founded in 1952. The museum collection features an unparalleled art collection of more than 8,000 works of art. The core of the museum collection is formed by the works evacuated from the Vyborg Art Museum due to the Second World War. The museum also holds the Niemistö collection, a significant and expanding collection of modern and contemporary art.
