About Hayling Island Sailing Club

Founded in 1921 and located on a private peninsula of golden sand at the entrance to Chichester Harbour, Hayling Island Sailing Club (HISC) is one of the UK’s premier sailing clubs and one of only four Royal Yachting Association (RYA) coastal Centres of Excellence. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the club enjoys a unique microclimate and offers year-round sailing in all tidal conditions—making it one of Britain’s best dinghy racing locations. Beyond its reputation on the water, HISC is also a dynamic coastal venue with exceptional facilities for weddings, corporate events, private functions and meetings. The contemporary, light filled clubhouse offers panoramic harbour views, a well stocked bar, fresh homemade food, and a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces. Our flexible meeting rooms are equipped for presentations, training sessions and away days, with breakout areas, AV capabilities, and private dining options. With direct access to both the sheltered waters of Chichester Harbour and the open sea of Hayling Bay, HISC regularly hosts major World and National Championships. The club has played a central role in British sailing history, championing innovation and producing generations of elite sailors, including five Olympic medallists. Onsite accommodation, warm hospitality, and a friendly, professional events team make Hayling Island Sailing Club the ideal setting not just for sailors, but for business leaders, couples, and families looking to celebrate or connect in a truly unique location. Whether you're here to race, host a meeting, tie the knot, or simply enjoy the surroundings, HISC offers a standout experience on the South Coast.
