About Health, Access + Planning (HAP) Lab

We are the Health, Access + Planning (HAP) Lab in the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Toronto Metropolitan University. Led by Dr. Samantha Biglieri, RPP, MCIP, the Health, Access + Planning (HAP) Lab conducts critical, community-based, and applied research at the intersections of planning and health. Specifically, we center our work on the wellbeing of marginalized populations, and are interested in working with communities to build just, inclusive cities. We do research on neighbourhoods, housing, transportation, built form, public space, accessibility, care, governance, policy and more. We also have a focus on the experiences of older adults and people living with dementia in their communities. Check out our website for our Publications, Blog Posts and recent Projects to see what we are up to! The Projects page also includes current opportunities to participate in research. You can learn more about our incredible past and present team members, and if you are interested in collaborating with us, or working with the Lab, please get in touch.
