About Heroes United to Heal Foundation

Heroes United to Heal (HU2H) is on a mission to end “Hero Suicide”. Tragically, suicide is the leading cause of death in both our veteran and first responder communities. It is estimated that 16,000 veterans and over 500 first responders take their lives each year as a result of the traumas they experience while serving their country and communities. HU2H intends to dramatically reduce those numbers by 88% by sending as many heroes as possible to a unique wellness retreat located in the mountains of Montana. There, they will participate in proven therapies, backed by scientific research, and learn various techniques that they can use once they return home while continuing to heal and ultimately find a new lease on life. The HU2H Big Sky Retreat will be a life changing retreat that will allow participants to participate in a number of scientifically proven therapies, such as equine therapy, music therapy, art therapy, group therapy in a peaceful outdoor atmosphere while surrounding a campfire and lead by a licensed mental health professional. Additionally, there will be team building exercises that will assist in re-establishing trust as well as relaxing activities such as hiking and fly-fishing. Additionally, this retreat will provide them the opportunity to connect with other brothers and sisters going through similar struggles. These bonds will foster camaraderie which is profoundly needed in their world. In addition to sending heroes to the "HU2H Big Sky Retreat", our team works hard to educate veterans, first responders, their leaders, families and the public about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Injury (PTSD/I), the resources available and the important of erasing the stigma attached to it.
