About Holy Mary British School Madrid

Holy Mary is a family-owned Catholic British school in Barrio de Salamanca, in the heart of Madrid. Founded by two sisters who believed that education should feel like family, we educate 640 students from Early Years to A-Levels across three campuses. We are not part of a corporate group. There are no shareholders, no private equity investors, no board meetings in London. Our founders still walk the corridors every morning. Our Headteacher knows every teacher by name. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT We teach the full British curriculum with small class sizes, a genuine sense of community, and Catholic values that shape how we treat people — not just what we teach. When we say "school community", we mean a staff room where everyone knows each other, not a marketing line in a prospectus. FOR TEACHERS If you're a QTS-qualified teacher considering a move abroad, here's what you should know about Holy Mary: — You won't be a number on a spreadsheet. There are 640 students. You matter here. — Small class sizes that let you actually teach — A Headteacher who teaches and a leadership team you can talk to directly — Funded CPD: conference attendance, training, professional growth — Life in Madrid: sunshine, culture, and a cost of living that gives you your life back Our teachers come from the UK, Ireland, and beyond. Most choose to stay. We understand why.
