About Hong Kong Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE)

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s leading cause of morbidity and mortality as well as the health industry’s most costly disease for treatment. Yet, despite recent advances in its treatment, more effective and accessible ways to tackle CVDs remain to be discovered. COCHE is a Health@InnoHK research centre specialising in translational cerebro‑cardiovascular health engineering, integrating engineering, data science, and clinical medicine to address major burdens of stroke, dementia, and cardiovascular disease through early prediction and prevention. Established under City University of Hong Kong and in partnership with University of Oxford and Karolinska Institute, our mission and vision are to build a healthcare data continuum across community, home, and hospital care to empower preventive care for cerebro‑cardiovascular diseases. Our international research comprises three specialised programmes and 13 projects to advance community‑based health monitoring, imaging technologies, and therapeutic innovations, with deliverables translating into real‑world community health programmes, which generated 8 startup companies. Our dedicated and integrated cerebro-cardiovascular health assessment and preventive care programme has reached over 14,000 citizens in the community care to create societal impacts.
