About Hong Kong Island Stingrays Swim Club

Hong Kong Island Stingrays Swim Club is a parent owned, and coach run swim club. Since its establishment in 1996, the Club has been operating under the governance of a self-perpetuating Board, whose members are nominated and approved for appointment at the regular Annual General Meeting. The legal status of the Club is that of a Hong Kong private company requiring financial statements and audits, and the submission of an annual return to the Companies Registry. The Club is also given a tax-exempt status due to the source of income derived predominantly from membership fee dues. Stingrays is a competitive swim team. Our home base is at the Hong Kong International School, Tai Tam Campus. While we are a separate entity from the school, we run the Junior Varsity and Varsity swim team for HKIS. Our top athletes compete throughout the Asia and on the international stage at age group and senior level having competed at Hong Kong Nationals, Asian Championships, World Championships and other international events collecting many medals along the way for their efforts. Other team members compete at all levels from stingray’s spring meets to highly competitive meets with strict entry times. A supportive team atmosphere is encouraged throughout the training and competition process which has enhanced the success of the team as a whole. HIS has a current membership of just over 170, ageing from 5–50+, and offers members many opportunities to be involved in swimming. We offer peoples the opportunity to learn to swim, training and competition at all levels from Club to International, training for triathlon, fitness and open water.
