About Hope Initiative Southern Africa - Namibia

HISA Namibia is a community-based non-governmental organisation established in 2004, dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and families living in informal settlements and vulnerable communities in Namibia. Founded as a child-focused initiative, HISA has grown into a multi-sectoral development organisation delivering integrated, rights-based programmes that respond to the complex social and economic challenges facing underserved populations. Our work focuses on strengthening human capital, promoting social inclusion, and enhancing community resilience. Key programme areas include early childhood development, basic literacy and back-to-school support, vocational and pre-vocational skills training, youth employability and entrepreneurship, health and nutrition, organic agriculture, and food security initiatives. HISA also implements targeted interventions to reduce teenage pregnancy, improve school retention for girls, and advance human rights, gender equality, and child protection. In addition, HISA supports communities to access social protection services, including birth registration and social grants, and facilitates pathways to development opportunities and economic empowerment through initiatives such as the FXB Village Programme. HISA works in close partnership with community leaders, government institutions, civil society organisations, and development partners to ensure locally driven, sustainable impact. Our approach is grounded in community ownership, accountability, and the belief that every child and every community deserves the opportunity to thrive.
