About Houstory®

Every year, millions of renters hand over their life savings for a lease based on a glossy listing and a 15-minute tour. They step into a dangerous information asymmetry, carrying no verified record of the actual living experience. Houstory is a data platform built to eliminate the zero data decision. We bring transparency to the rental market by aggregating open public records—such as HPD violations, DOB complaints, and litigation history—and combining them with verified tenant reviews. We deliver the hidden history of specific units, empowering renters to make informed, confident housing choices. We build transparency for the entire housing ecosystem: The Vulnerable Renter: We equip individuals with a comprehensive Unit Score and unit-specific insights—including landlord responsiveness, environmental issues, and maintenance history—so they know exactly what they are signing up for. The Ethical Partner (Landlords & Brokers): We hold bad actors accountable while rewarding good-faith landlords. Quality property managers earn a Verified Credibility Badge, helping them prove their standard of care and fill vacancies faster. The Institutional User (HR & Universities): We offer relocation de-risking and student housing transparency. We ensure relocating talent and students land in safe, reliable housing to protect productivity and prevent churn. The rental industry has profited from opacity for decades. We leverage technology to fix systemic disadvantage and prove that transparency benefits both good tenants and good landlords.Let’s eliminate the zero data decision.
