About HSM Ammunition

HSM Ammunition: A Legacy of Precision and Performance Founded in 1968 in Stevensville, Montana, Hunting Shack Munitions, now known worldwide as HSM Ammunition, has grown from humble beginnings into one of America’s most trusted ammunition manufacturers. What started as a small family-run reloading business serving local law enforcement quickly earned a reputation for uncompromising quality and precision. Throughout the 1970s and ’80s, HSM expanded its offerings to include new production hunting, self-defense, and training ammunition. As demand grew, so did the company’s capabilities. By the 1990s, HSM had secured contracts with law enforcement agencies across the country and developed a loyal following among hunters and shooting enthusiasts. At the heart of HSM’s success lies a simple commitment: every round must perform flawlessly, shot after shot, box after box. This dedication to craftsmanship has guided the company for over five decades. Each cartridge is loaded with premium components, meticulously inspected, and tested to exacting standards. Today, HSM operates from a 45,000 sq. ft. facility in the heart of Montana’s Bitterroot Valley. The company offers one of the most comprehensive ammunition catalogs in the industry, spanning rifle, handgun, and specialty cartridges in dozens of calibers. Signature product lines include Cowboy Action, Trophy Gold®, Pro Pistol Hunter, Varmint Blue, and the versatile Bear Load series, each engineered for a specific purpose, whether in the field, at the range, or in defense of life. HSM proudly supports America’s hunters, shooters, and patriots. With more than 50 years of continuous operation, the company remains family-owned and Montana-made, delivering accuracy, performance, and value with every round. Built for those who demand the best. Proven by those who know the difference. That’s HSM.
