About I.J. Group

IJ Group is one of Nepal's most diversified and respected conglomerates, with a legacy spanning over five decades of business leadership and nation-building. The story begins in Kathmandu's Indra Chowk, where founder Indra Bhakta Shrestha (IBS) learned the art of commerce through hands-on experience in his family's textile shop. From those early days of fabric trading and currency exchange, IBS built a vision that would shape Nepal's business landscape for generations. Registered in 1972 as Nepal Enterprises Group, the organization expanded steadily — from importing Brooke Bond tea and pioneering Korea–Nepal fabric trade, to becoming a founding promoter of Himalayan Bank and one of Nepal's first general insurance companies. A landmark joint venture with Unilever in 1992 marked the Group's entry into manufacturing, coinciding with Nepal's historic opening to international trade and investment. Today, IJ Group leads the nation across six major business verticals: Manufacturing, Infrastructure Development, International Trade, Banking & Financial Services, Hospitality, and Private Equity. Rooted in integrity and driven by a long-standing commitment to Nepal's economic progress, IJ Group continues to invest in industries that fulfill the fundamental needs of the people and strengthen the nation's future.
