About IAAR
Independent Association of Accredited Registrars (IAAR) promotes accredited management system certification through its member-driven association that represents and advances accredited third-party systems certification and enhances credibility for all interested parties. IAAR promotes accredited management system certification, working with industry groups, government agencies and other organizations to provide guidance on the appropriate use of international standards, the accreditation and certification process, and reliance on accredited certification bodies to determine whether organizations comply with various international and US standards. IAAR members’ clients represent nearly all service and industry sectors with sizes ranging from a handful of employees to multinational corporations. These clients benefit from accredited certification to quality, environmental, and health and safety management system standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100, ISO 27001, ISO 13485, ISO 45001, FSSC 22000 and many others. IAAR was established in 1992 with 12 members. Affectionately known as “The Dirty Dozen”, the original members were: ABS, BSI, BVQI, DNV, KEMA, LRQA, QMI, QSR, SQA, SRI, TRA and UL. Since 1992 our membership has grown and IAAR members now dominates the market with members’ clients holding over 90% of the accredited certificates in North America. IAAR also works closely with North American accreditation bodies and the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to provide our membership with the latest information and the opportunity for members to participate at the highest levels.
