About Ilkeston Town Football Club

Ilkeston has working-class roots, with historical industries formerly in coal mining, ironwork and lace-making. Although we are in Derbyshire, we are closer to Nottingham, with a population of around 40,000. The town, within the borough of Erewash, appears as Tilchestune in the Doomsday Book. The distinctive dialect spoken in ‘Ilson’ leads to people asking “’Ow do?” and men calling one another “mi'duck”. But it remains a proud, hard-working place, where folk like to look out for their neighbours and traditional family life is very important. We, as a club want to promote high standards of sportsmanship and fair play, while taking nothing away from our proud, hard-working instincts. Outsiders may need to earn our trust, but the town is friendly, down to earth and very close. In recent years the club has had extensive improvements to the club's ground, including the installation of a state-of-the-art 3G pitch, with further plans in place to expand and renovate the New Manor Ground facilities. The Club continues to deliver sustainable football and is establishing strong foundations for the club to grow. The Club has a strong club ethos and plan, with supporters seeing continual improvements both on and off the pitch. The Club has a strong vision, supported by local people in the community. The club boasts over 400 junior members, a thriving ladies section and a veteran team, making up the Ilkeston Pyramid. Ilkeston remains the biggest football club in Derbyshire and is proud to hold the two-star England accreditation status. The club was recently awarded a grant from the Trident leagues to work towards three-star accreditation by establishing an inclusion group. The club continues to work within its community and sees itself as the key focal point in the area. Ilkeston Town is the heart of the Community and is now a place people visit for far more than just football. Win If You Can, Lose If You Must, But Always Try Your Best! #OneTownOneClub
