About Independent Living Advisers

Independent Living Advisers is a new business born out of the real experiences of the founders in looking after and worrying about their parents. We are all of a generation where every conversation turns to - "and how are your parents?", followed by a long explaination of concerns, fears and frustrations. And sometimes we, and our friends have disappeared for weeks on end to try and sort out a parental crisis. Talking to medical and community care professionals it became apparent that our experiences were universal and a result of seniors living longer (at least statistically) and the underfunding and even dismantling of health and care services. GPs recognise this but there is simply not enough time and resource for them to operate the old family doctor relationship, where they would holistically assess the circumstances, organise community based help and monitor the situation. So we decided to do something about it, by launching a completely new level of support for seniors and their families. ILA is founded from a passion to help seniors through vulnerable times, improving their quality of life, reducing risk of crisis and staving off the dreaded care home.
