About Indian School Psychology Association

The Indian School Psychology Association (InSPA) is dedicated to promoting school psychology services and supporting the holistic development of children across India. Recognizing the diverse educational standards in India, InSPA emphasizes the necessity of psychological guidance for all children, irrespective of their school's economic status. School Psychologists are crucial in ensuring data-driven decision-making and creating conducive environments for learning. In India, academic psychology is influenced by Western concepts, with a focus on educational and clinical psychology. School Psychology is an emerging field, requiring both knowledge and practical skills based on international models. To address this need, a team of six psychologists, guided by Prof. B. Mukhopadhyay, established InSPA. The association aims to influence policy at both state and central government levels to incorporate School Psychology into the curriculum and appoint trained school psychologists across the country, enhancing the quality of education. Established on 15th August 2009 in Puducherry, InSPA is a voluntary, non-profit educational service society. Vision: Ensuring easy accessibility of academic resources, skill development for learning, and mental well-being for all children. InSPA is affiliated with the International School Psychology Association, USA, and the Asia Pacific School Psychology Association, Malaysia, supporting young psychologists to advance school psychology services in India. Mission: InSPA advocates for school psychologists, providing professional training to positively impact school systems, enhance academic skills, social-emotional functioning, and mental well-being of all schoolchildren.
