Our Mission The mission of the Indigenous Stewardship Fund is to focus on the preservation and sustainable management of British Columbia’s oceans, fresh water, public waterways, and riparian habitats. By valuing and integrating traditional Indigenous knowledge alongside contemporary approaches, we strive to protect and restore ecosystems, promote responsible fisheries practices, and ensure the long-term health and resilience of aquatic resources for the benefit of present and future generations. Our Vision Our vision is a future where ecosystems are preserved and enhanced through the wisdom of Indigenous knowledge, scientific innovation, and collaborative partnerships. By fostering sustainable practices, we strive for vibrant and resilient aquatic environments that provide vital benefits to both Indigenous communities and the broader public.
