About Information & Technology for Society Association (INFOTÉR)

Since its founding in 2007, the Information & Technology for Society Association (Infotér) has championed a clear and forward-thinking mission: to harness the power of exponential technologies not as an end in itself, but as a means to create meaningful social, economic and scientific impact. Our very name reflects this philosophy – Information & Technology for Society. Our flagship initiative, the Infotér Conference has become Central and Eastern Europe’s leading platform for high-level dialogue on digital transformation, innovation, strategy and policy. Since its inception in 2010, the event has convened an influential cross-sector community of nearly 2,000 participants annually – including senior policymakers, corporate leaders, investors, academic experts, and civil society stakeholders – underscoring its strategic importance in shaping the region’s digital future. Hosted in the culturally significant city of Balatonfüred, Hungary, the conference has consistently served as a catalyst for collaborative thinking and forward-looking policymaking. In response to the shifting geopolitical dynamics and the growing significance of space and defense as pillars of strategic resilience and national sovereignty INFOTÉR launched the Space & Defense Day in 2022 as a dedicated track within the conference. The initiative quickly gained momentum, attracting hundreds of participants and top-level speakers. By 2024, attendance surged to 800, solidifying its position as the region’s largest and most influential space and defense-focused gathering.
