About Insolvency Lawyers' Association

The ILA is a professional members' association comprised of barristers and solicitors specialising in restructuring and insolvency. The ILA provides a forum to co-operate on matters of professional interest, network, share know-how, and represent the ILA’s view to Government and other professional bodies with an interest in insolvency and restructuring law and practice. Broadly, the ILA’s aims to: • promote the role of lawyers within the insolvency profession and restructuring community; • advance the theory and practice of insolvency administration and restructuring best practice in the UK and across jurisdictions; and • cater for the needs of insolvency lawyers advising on matters of personal insolvency, corporate restructuring and insolvency, and cross-border restructuring and insolvency, both in the UK and overseas. ILA members enjoy a range of benefits, including: • receiving technical and themed bulletins on significant and topical insolvency cases and legislation prepared by the ILA’s Technical Committee; • access to a full library of online content and webinars; • an invitation to attend the ILA Annual Conference hosted in the spring of each year, with leading speakers from the judiciary, the Bar, solicitors’ firms and universities, dealing both with developments in black letter law and the practical implications of changes to insolvency and restructuring practice; • as an associate member, automatic enrolment to the ILA Associates' Network – a dedicated forum for junior members of the profession to network amongst themselves and with their counterparts in the accounting, banking and financial advisory professions; and • various social events throughout the year, including a dinner, which provide a great opportunity for members to network informally with one another and to build professional relationships with their peers in the field.
