About Institute for Work & Health

The Institute for Work & Health (IWH) is a Canadian, independent, not-for-profit research organization. The Institute has been described as one of the top five occupational health and safety research centres in the world. At IWH, our goal is to conduct and mobilize research that supports policy-makers, employers and workers in creating healthy, safe and inclusive work environments. The Institute's multi-disciplinary research examines the relationships between work and health from worker, workplace and system perspectives. It conducts high-quality, relevant research in two broad areas: • work as a determinant of health • health as a determinant of work Within these two broad areas, the Institute focuses on six priorities: • the changing nature of work and the future of work • longstanding work and health issues • mental health and work • organizational context, including small business • worker diversity and inclusion • work and health within a broader societal context.
