About Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems (iCPS) Lab

The Intelligent Cyber-Physical Systems (iCPS) Lab conducts research on the foundations and applications of trustworthy autonomous systems. Our mission is to enable autonomy that works reliably in the real world—under uncertainty, limited sensing, and stringent safety constraints. We work at the intersection and forefront of machine learning/AI, control, optimization, and advanced computing. We develop theory-grounded methods that integrate control, optimization, estimation, and learning to provide formal guarantees on safety, performance, and robustness. Core research areas include learning-enabled model predictive control, physics-informed machine learning, active learning, learning-integrated distributed optimization, resilient perception and control, and autonomous inspection and monitoring. Our work is motivated by high-impact applications in robotics and embodied AI, critical infrastructure and energy systems, and security- and mission-critical operations. The iCPS Lab is committed to Gold Standard, reproducible research and to training the next generation of engineers and scientists who can build autonomous systems that are not only intelligent, but trustworthy by design.
