About International Housing Solutions (IHS)

At International Housing Solutions (IHS), we finance the development of energy efficient (green), affordable housing communities across Africa. We recognize the need to both create viable housing investments and provide broader community infrastructure with easy access to schools, shops and work opportunities. IHS is a pioneer in the affordable housing sector and has built a strong reputation by successfully financing the construction of new homes while building sustainable communities. We have established long-term partnerships with key stakeholders, which allows us to bring together the necessary elements for creating successful investments in the affordable housing market across Africa. Furthermore, our relationships have enabled us to create a strong pipeline of prospective investments in the region. IHS seeks opportunities where there is rapid growth in housing demand that is not being met by existing supply. Our investment strategy is tailored to local market conditions where economic and political conditions are supportive of development and private market investments. We are committed to partnering with local companies to make the best use of existing capacity, while minimizing investment risk. We help build organizational strength among these local housing market participants to pave the way for further economic growth and to foster international partnerships. Our investments are diversified across geographic regions and product types. We aim to go beyond simply building housing units to creating sustainable communities through our mixed-income and mixed-use development model. At International Housing Solutions, we focus on developing sustainable communities that make a significant difference in the lives of their residents and surrounding communities. Our strategy focuses on impact investments leading to sustainable job creation, positive social impacts while reducing our impact on the environment through key ESG policies and practices.
