About International Institute for Primary Health Care - Ethiopia (IPHC-E)

The International Institute for Primary Health Care – Ethiopia (IPHC-E), established by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia, delivers technical assistance to countries aiming to strengthen their Primary Health Care (PHC) systems. Our work focuses on capacity building, program design, and implementation. We also support the Ministry of Health through evidence-based policy recommendations, leadership training, innovation labs, and engagement in PHC policy and strategy development. Since its inception in 2016, IPHC-E has developed instructional modules on PHC, Ethiopia’s health system, and the Health Extension Program (HEP). The Institute has conducted national and international capacity building trainings, facilitated experience-sharing visits, identified PHC research priorities, supported collaborative implementation research, and provided small grants for PHC research activities. In partnership with academic and non-governmental organizations, IPHC-E has also established a PHC resource center. The Institute is now globally accredited by the CPD Standards Office, reflecting the high quality of its training programs.
