About International Network for Human Rights Europe (RIDHE)

The International Human Rights Network Europe (RIDHE) is a transnational network of European and Latin American organizations playing a central role in the promotion and protection of civil and political rights, particularly in contexts marked by authoritarianism, democratic backsliding, forced displacement, and shrinking civic space. Since its establishment, RIDHE has made exceptional contributions to human rights defense through non-violent, participatory, and rights-based approaches. The network provides sustained accompaniment to civil society organizations, coalitions, and human rights defenders at risk, strengthening their capacities for protection, resilience, international advocacy, and organizational sustainability. With a presence in Europe (Geneva and Brussels) and a regional office for Latin America in San José, Costa Rica, RIDHE actively engages with United Nations mechanisms and European Union institutions, amplifying the voices of affected communities and bringing international attention to serious human rights violations that would otherwise remain invisible. A distinctive pillar of RIDHE’s work is its Education in Emergencies Programme, which seeks to restore access to inclusive, safe, and quality education for migrants, youth, and women in situations of forced displacement. RIDHE understands education as a powerful tool for protection, critical thinking, and empowerment. In an increasingly hostile environment for human rights work, RIDHE continues to operate despite significant risks, integrating feminist, intercultural, and intersectional perspectives across its actions. International recognition through this award would significantly enhance RIDHE’s visibility, protection, and impact, enabling the network to continue defending civil and political rights in a sustained and effective manner.
