About International Philosophy Olympiad

The International Philosophy Olympiad (IPO) is the World Championship Philosophy Competition for high school students and is held annually in a different country. It is one of the International Science Olympiads and is organized under the auspices of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP) with support from UNESCO. The first IPO was held in 1993 in Smolyan, Bulgaria, with three countries participating. It has gradually expanded, to over 50 countries from 5 continent. The IPO Ethics Committee ensures that the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions of the IPO.
