About Investing in Place

Investing in Place is Los Angeles’s independent civic research and convening hub, dedicated to how the City manages sidewalks, streets, and parks. For the past decade we have studied budgets, policies, and practices, while grounding our research in conversations with Angelenos, civic leaders, and public agencies. We listen through surveys, workshops, and one-on-one meetings, and we convene leaders across sectors to expand the conversation and support the civic leadership needed to care for public space. Our work makes complex systems legible and connects data with lived experience, always guided by the belief that neighborhoods shape us every day, in how we move, rest, connect, and belong.
