The Fiscal Council is an independent body that acts as Ireland’s budgetary watchdog. It is responsible for providing an honest and independent assessment of how the Government is managing the public finances and the economy. It comprises a five-member part-time Council and a full-time staff or “Secretariat” that supports its work.
