About Island Hockey 101
In 2006, two brothers moved back to Victoria after living out of town for many years. Both having learned to play in their respective cities, they looked for a place to play on the same team but there were no leagues in town that catered to brand new beginners to hockey (and skating!). They rented some ice and began to invite friends to join them. Apparently there were others that were interested in learning to play as year 1 had 10 teams and the league doubled every year for the next several years. Since that time, Island Hockey 101 has organized well over 10000 hockey games for several hundred teams - specializing as the place to play as a beginner or someone wanting to find their way back to the sport after many years away. Island Hockey 101 employs dozens of referees and scorekeepers each year, uses most arenas throughout Greater Victoria and prides itself on providing a safe, friendly environment for all people of all ages to enjoy the game of hockey.
