About IUCN SSC Cat Specialist Group

The Cat Specialist Group (Cat SG) focuses on assessing the status of wild cat species, fostering global cooperation, and supporting conservation efforts. Its activities include maintaining and updating the IUCN Red List and Green Status Assessments for cat species, developing conservation strategies, action plans, and policy guidelines, and advising organizations on species conservation. The group collaborates with international conventions like CITES and CMS and works to enhance networking among experts and institutions in cat conservation. Additionally, it supports members' conservation work, shares information through Cat News and the website, and provides education and capacity building through training for future conservationists. Through these efforts, the Cat SG aims to ensure the long-term preservation of wild cats. The Cat Specialist Group is hosted by the KORA Foundation.
