Jason B. Sheffield is a criminal defense trial attorney based in Atlanta, Georgia. He is known for stepping boldly into courtrooms across the country to protect the constitutional rights of individuals accused of crimes. He brings an unshakable sense of responsibility to every case and stands firmly between citizens and the power of the state whenever government overreach threatens justice. Beyond the courtroom, Jason is an educator and advocate for the future of trial practice. As an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law, he trains the next generation of lawyers in the art and ethics of criminal defense. His commitment to global legal development recently led him overseas, where he was invited by the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Georgia to teach jury trial techniques to criminal defense attorneys as the nation transitions to a jury-based system. Jason’s path to the law is far from traditional and it is part of what sets him apart. Before becoming an attorney in 2005, he spent seven years acting and writing in Atlanta while also working as an emergency medical technician in the Scottish Rite Children’s Emergency Room. Those experiences, shaped by creativity, urgency, empathy, and storytelling, continue to influence his work as a trial lawyer and teacher. At his core, Jason is driven by passion for the law, for mentorship, for stories that matter, and most of all, for his family.
