About JORDAN SMELSKI FOUNDATION FOR AMOEBA AWARENESS INC

Jordan Smelski Foundation for Amoeba Awareness Inc., was established in 2014 following the tragic death of 11-year-old Jordan Smelski to Primary Amoebic Meningoencephalitis (PAM), caused by a waterborne brain-eating amoeba. Our mission is to save lives through education, early detection, research, and community outreach. Through strategic partnerships, including AdventHealth, we’ve hosted medical summits, funded critical research, launched awareness campaigns, and recently helped promote life-saving amoeba testing available right here in Central Florida. As a small, volunteer-led foundation with no paid staff, every dollar raised goes directly toward our mission to protect families and honor Jordan’s legacy of kindness, energy, and compassion.
